LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2007 — Simplay Labs, LLC, the leading provider of testing technologies, tools and services for the high-definition consumer electronics industry, at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) today announced the opening of its first European test center in London, providing manufacturers a state-of-the-art compatibility testing facility to ensure they are delivering industry-compatible high-definition products to consumers. Simplay Labs is also previewing new testing tools and services to help manufacturers achieve compatibility and deliver the highest-quality HDTV experience to consumers.
Testing at Simplay Labs is designed to promote industry-wide interoperability among products using High-Definition Multimedia Interface™ (HDMI™) and High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP), including HDTVs and next-generation HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc players. The testing also helps maximize the ability of such products to receive and play high-definition content. The new London facility, which begins operations this week, will become the fourth Simplay HD test center in the world. There are two in China, located in Shenzhen and Shanghai, and another facility at Simplay Labs headquarters in Sunnyvale, California.
Simplay Labs provides a broad array of tools and services that test compatibility of high-definition (HD) consumer electronics devices such as HDTVs, set-top boxes, game consoles, audio/video receivers, DVD players and consumer electronic displays, helping manufacturers to achieve compatibility and deliver the highest-quality HDTV experience to consumers. At CES, Simplay Labs will preview its latest offering – a manufacturer’s full protocol test tool that troubleshoots HDMI and HDCP functionality and detects potential performance issues in HD devices – at its demonstration area in the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, January 8 -11.
“We are very excited to expand our global testing centers to the European market,” said Joseph Lias, president of Simplay Labs, LLC. “We are committed to making it easy for manufacturers throughout the world to have their products Simplay HD-tested. Only the Simplay HD mark gives a consumer confidence in a consistent ‘plug-and-play’ user experience.”
Simplay Lab’s first European test center demonstrates a dedication to providing local support and helping European consumer electronics manufacturers cut down on shipping costs and times for faster marketing of higher-quality, differentiated products. Those products bearing the Simplay HD logo also give their customers peace of mind, allowing them to identify high-definition (HD) components that will work together. More than 100 products have been Simplay HD-verified, and more than 30 are awaiting verification by the end of January.
