Simplay™ Labs Expands Its HD Performance Solutions and Launches New Self-Testing Program and CEC Solutions Suite

CES 2009, LAS VEGAS, Nevada, January 8, 2009 — Simplay™ Labs, LLC, the leading solutions provider of technologies, testing programs, development tools, and interoperability and performance design standards for the high-definition (HD) consumer electronics industry, today announced that, along with expanding its partnerships and adding to the number of Simplay HD™ certified high-performance products, it is now formally launching the Simplay Self-Testing program. Having completed the successful Self-Testing pilot program at the facilities of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the program is now ready for widespread adoption. Simplay Labs is also launching its new consumer electronics control (CEC) solution suite featuring the industry’s first fully comprehensive offering of CEC technologies, development and test tools, testing services and consulting design services.

Partnerships Grow and More Products are Simplay HD Certified
Since its inception in 2005, Simplay Labs has steadily grown its partnerships and product testing portfolio. To date there are 96 Simplay Labs members, and the organization has tested and certified 375 consumer electronics products. Products that have passed Simplay HD™certification are distinguished by their high performance and interoperability, ease of use, and consumer satisfaction.

Industry endorsements for the Simplay HD testing and certification program have been provided by partners such as Samsung, Mitsubishi, LG, Insignia, Bose, Linksys, Monster Cable, Foxconn, and Gefen.

Self-Testing Program Successfully Implemented
Simplay Labs has completed the successful deployment and implementation of its Simplay HD Self-Testing pilot program with Samsung Electronics. Administered by both companies, this program has expanded Samsung’s participation in the Simplay HD Testing Program by increasing product throughput, extending the range of products tested, and accelerating time-to-market.

“The Simplay Self-Testing program has greatly streamlined the Simplay HD certification process and we have been able to increase use of the program and offer more fully interoperable products with optimized performance to our retailers and customers,” said ChanHo Youn, assistant manager of the Customer Satisfaction Management Center at Samsung Electronics.

The Self-Testing program includes on-site Simplay testing equipment installation, technician training and certification, quality control, and collaborative test specification reviews. The Simplay HD Self-Testing program is now generally available to all Simplay Labs customers.

Simplay CEC Solution Suite Launch
The newly launched Simplay CEC solution suite is a one-stop comprehensive and fast time- to-market technology and business solution that includes:

• Simplay CEC Technology Package – a drop-in C++ software stack, software developers kit (SDK) and hardware evaluation platform for rapid implementation of all CEC commands;
• Simplay CEC Explorer and Pre-Test Tool – multi-device simulator, debugger, bus and protocol analyzer, and ATC pre-test tool to help streamline CEC development;
• Simplay HD CEC Testing Services – protocol and implementation performance and multi-vendor interoperability testing to ensure a flawless consumer experience;
• Consulting Services – HD and CEC experts available to help with complex product integration, porting and advanced feature sets implementation;
