Simplay Labs Releases Latest UTS 800 With MHL Test Suite

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 7, 2012 – Simplay™ Labs, LLC, the leading solutions provider of high-definition testing programs and development tools for interoperability and performance design standards today announced the availability of the MHL™ Test Suite module for the Simplay Universal Test System (UTS) 800. The Simplay UTS 800 is an all-in-one system that enables comprehensive and enhanced testing by adding testing modules within the system as they are needed. The latest addition of the MHL Test Suite incorporates key components of MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) protocol testing into the UTS platform, so product developers can easily incorporate MHL technology into their future designs to speed time to market, ensure quality control and avoid extra design cycles.

An increasing number of smartphones, tablets, HDTVs, and other products around the globe support MHL technology. Along with the ability to deliver 1080p high-definition video and 7.1 digital audio from an MHL-enabled mobile device to a larger display, MHL technology also provides power back to the mobile device so its battery is constantly charged.

The UTS MHL Test Suite is made up of two plug-in system modules along with associated software. Both modules are official test tools and adhere to the MHL Compliance Test Specification (CTS).

1. The SL-860 MHL Rx/Tx Analyzer module ensures compliance with the MHL standard and interoperability between two compatible devices by testing the MHL stream, determining the A/V formatting and timing and sending/receiving remote control protocol (RCP) commands.
2. The SL-850 MHL CBUS Explorer module enables companies to incorporate remote control capabilities of consumer electronics (CE) devices through an MHL connection by testing the control and management signaling and messaging between MHL-enabled devices.
